Cris Bierrenbach

Cris Bierrenbach was born in São Paulo in 1964. Photographer and plastic artist, she began her career as a reporter in the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo in 1989. She develops a work that includes video, performance, installation and research on nineteenth century printing techniques, with emphasis on the production of daguerreotypes. Among the awards receiveds were: Porto Seguro de Fotografia (2004), Candango Art Direction Award at the 41st Brasília Film Festival (2008), Acquisition Prize São Paulo Cultural Center (2009), Marc Ferrez Photography and Contemporary Art of the Funarte (2010). She has already held 15 solo exhibitions and, in addition to Brazil, her works have already been exhibited in Germany, Belgium, Chile, Cuba, Spain, United States, France, Holland, Japan, Mexico, Czech Republic and Uruguay.

She has works in the collections of MASP, MAM-SP, MAC-SP and Maison Européenne de la Photographie, among others. In 2005, she was invited by publisher Cosac Naify to publish a book with her work in the Foto-Portátil collection. The artist lives and works in São Paulo
